Many actors in Tamil cinema have tonsured in the past, that too at a crucial phase in their careers. With the last being Arun Vijay for ‘Maanja Velu’, the latest is Munna, who had shaved his head for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavanan’.

Sources close to the unit say Munna appears with a clean-shaven head at a very important part of the movie. “It is an emotional scene which would change the course of the film. The actor has got a meaty role in Raavanan,” they add.

Saying Munna is playing Vikram’s younger brother in this movie, they add: “It is a lifetime role for him and he is thankful to Mani Ratnam for giving him an opportunity. He is eagerly expecting the release of the movie.”

Meanwhile, ‘Raavanan’ is releasing in a record number of theatres all over the world. “The Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus has surpassed films of some top actors of Tamil film industry when it comes to the number of cinema halls that would screen the film,” trade circles say.
